Back to work today...or is it?

I got up this morning, at 6:15, got ready for work.
Drove 1 hour to work.
But it looks like no one made it to work.

I doubt that all my co-workers got suddenly sick, so I assume that I didn’t get the memo about no having to come to work today.
I am not sure what I should do tomorrow. I am doing some work, so it doesn’t feel like a total waste of time.

I wish someone had told me, ‘cause now I have to drive another hour home. What a waste of time.

Ho, ho, ho, merry Christmas

So I managed to survive the Christmas week-end alright.
First on Friday we left work early so we could do some more shopping, I stayed behind to finish some stuff.
Then on Saturday I went to see my brother and his wife, we drank way to much wine and played trivial pursuit, it was good fun, I don’t get to go out with them too often.

I gave Clare a hi-fi, (no not a cheap one, but a nice one). She gave me a watch, (no, also not a cheap one).

On Sunday we went for lunch/dinner with my mates in North London, we got very, very drunk. The wife-to-be was not feeling well so she was the designated driver. Been drunk the one hour trip home felt like 2 or 3 minutes at the most.

Yesterday I veged at home, I was not going to do anything.

Still not done my Christmas chopping.

I know what I am going to get the wife-to-be, (she asked me about 30 times to get her a small hi-fi system). But I haven’t had time to go and pick it up, tomorrow is my last chance to get it.

So, what have I been doing for the past 2 weeks? Not much really, we had a friend staying over for a while, she was staying in the spare room so I couldn’t use my computers, (that’s my excuse for not posting more often by the way).
I have also been updating the wedding website as well as doing a few Christmas things. If I remember tonight I will take a picture of the tree in the lounge.

I am going to visit my brother on Saturday for Christmas, it should be fun. They, (his wife and him), are very quite, I don’t know if they ever go out.
That reminds me, we have no plans for New Years Eve, any ideas?

Oh well, I am sure I will think of something closer to the time.

I have been spending the last few days trying to find some work around all the spam I am getting.
I think I found a way. Now the comments are checked for some 'colourful' words that most spammers seem to love.
I am thinking of getting rid of this blog altogether anyways, Every time I remember to add a post I first have to delete 200-odd spam. By the time I am done I just give up.

New virus bringing the servers down

There is also some new virus going around that is bringing my servers to a crawl.
Of course my servers are not infected, but the way the virus works is by sending thousands of emails around, so I am receiving around 5000 email a day all the emails get deleted but I the infected servers keep sending me emails.

Hopefully they will sort their security holes and everything will get back to normal.

Christmas shopping, what to get...

There are only a few days to go before Christmas and I have no idea what to get the wife-to-be.
I know I can't really get her something like a 6 pack of beer, but I know I can't get here perfume or bubble bath salts, (whatever those are).

She says she wants a CD player, but of course I have no idea where to get it from, I will probably get something online. But going by the past 7 years, I will get something at the last minute.

Fancy dress party at the local.

On Saturday we went to the local for a few beers for a friend’s farewell party. She is only leaving England on the 16th of December but because a lot of people will be going away this holiday she decided to have it now. And she is coming to stay with us from the 3rd, so I don’t think she will be able to go and visit everybody anymore.

The wife and I had to run around on Saturday afternoon looking for a costume, all we could find really was a Mr and Ms Santa outfit. It looked ok I guess, truth be told I didn’t really care what I looked like.
Needless to say that after a few minutes my fake beard was full of beer and my pants were falling to the ground.
But it was fun, I ha d a massive headache the whole of Sunday, but I guess it was worth it. It was good fun.

Everybody that saw the wedding website said that it was really cool, I am quite happy with it myself; I guess I will add a few pictures on it at some stage.

Putting finishing touches to the wedding.

I cannot believe it has been so long already since the last time I updated this blog.
Like I said I have been busy with the wedding preparations. I don’t have much to do really but because I left everything to the last minute it has been a rush to complete everything.

On Saturday we went to choose the suit for me and Mark, nothing fancy, just a traditional black suit, (so traditional in fact that it is called a traditional cut!).
Clare and I then went and got drunk in some pub around Guilford, what else is there to do on a cold Saturday! We even watched a bit of rugby.

I finished the website, the wife-to-be still has a few problems with it but at least it is published. It’s only for the guests really so there is no need for me to add a link here.

Then, I also had to write all the addresses on the invites, my handwriting been a close match to a four year old I am still a bit confused as to why I was given that job. After addressing the envelopes we had to stamp them, (not as easy as it sounds).

But now this is all done and dusted, the date is set, (11th of February), and there is no turning back.

As if I wasn’t busy enough we also doing some marriage course that the vicar wants us to do. The wife-to-be is quite keen, but me, I find it boring. The course is about “relationships”, and “communication”, or something like that, I wasn’t listening.

This week-end we have some fancy dress party in North London, it’s our friends farewell party as well. The great thing is that pubs are now open for a lot longer, (in the UK they used to close at 11pm until today. They can now stay open a lot longer.

Busy, busy last few days.

I haven't been posting much lately, mainly because I have been busy at work and also because I am busy with our wedding website.
It is not ready yet, so it is not published yet, but I guess it will be soon. I will add a post as soon as it is ready.

I have also been busy with church lately, I am doing the Alpha Course, for those of you who don’t know, Alpha course is some Christian course. It is quite interesting, and keeping us busy for the next 10 weeks or so.
Talking about church, this morning we went to some remembrance service, I am not sure how it works around the world, but in the UK they, (we), remember the soldiers who lost their lives in various conflicts.

Teens Caught Hacking School Computer To Change Grades

I found this computer articles about some kids who hacked into their school computers.

It’s a bit of a shame that they got caught, I bet they will get job offers now.

I cannot believe that they only got 10 days suspension, in my days I would have been canned about 6 times, they knew that suspending us was no punishment.
